Greetings!
My name is Ernesto “Ernie” Aragon, Jr. and I am the Senior Pastor of Victory Christian Fellowship of Calamba. I’ve been married for thirteen years to my precious wife, Michelle Roxas Aragon, and we have two wonderful daughters, Amanda Ysabel and Andrea Juliana.
I’ve been a Christian for almost three decades now but it was just recently that I have been reacquainted with the grace and love of God in a very deep and personal way that it seems that I’m a new person again. It’s not that I’ve forgotten God’s grace and love as revealed in the gospel but it’s more of that I’ve never seen it such a light before. I have experienced a gospel revolution.
For a very long time, I fell into the believing the trap that the gospel of Jesus Christ was only for people who haven’t put their faith in Christ yet or for people who have just put their faith in Christ. I believed that a mature Christian should focus more on character, commitment, maturity, leadership and the like. I wrongfully thought that I should “master” explaining the gospel only because I was supposed to share it to people who aren’t followers of Christ yet. With a new understanding of the gospel of grace and the centrality of Christ and His gospel in our lives, I realized how far I was from the truth.
Through leaders who who have experienced a similar gospel revolution/revelation and who have helped me along, I discovered that the gospel is not the ABC’s of Christianity but the A to Z of it. I discovered that instead of focusing on living the Christian life, the whole point of it all is to focus on the grace and love of Jesus Christ. Not on my own effort, not on my own commitment, not on my own ability to love God. I am everyday discovering that as I focus on God’s grace and love in Christ, His Holy Spirit transforms me from the inside out and by not focusing on spiritual growth, I grow. This truth has liberated me in so many ways.
I can’t tell you everything here. That’s the point of this blog – my journey discovering and rediscovering the grace and love of God in Christ Jesus. Everyday I’m discovering another aspect of that grace and love and everyday, I’m falling in love with Him more and more. I hope you all join me in that journey and it is my prayer that you be radically transformed by the grace of God just as He has been doing it to me.
In Christ,
Ernie Aragon, Jr.
