Peace in the midst of storms

“As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.
“Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
Luke 8:23-25

I’d rather be in a strong storm with Jesus with me in the boat than on calm seas without Him. Because where He is is where it is safe and peaceful. On the cross Jesus took upon Himself ALL THE STORMS OF THE WRATH OF GOD BECAUSE OUR SIN WAS UPON HIM so that we would no longer have suffer the ultimate storm of the wrath of God.

If we put our faith in Him alone to save us, He enters the “boat” of our lives and makes His home with us. We won’t have storm-free lives but storm-proof lives. No matter what storms and trials we face right now, with Jesus, everything is peaceful inside because we know that He is in charge. Whether He calms the storm or whether He allows us to pass through it, we can be at peace. Even if He allows the storms to take us, rest assured that we will be welcomed to an eternity of peace in His presence.
