Focusing too much on our convictions is in a way like adding the Law to ourselves. We can’t live up to them and live by them. Instead, if we focus on the saving grace of Jesus Christ then we will be transformed and end up living out those convictions and with the right motivation. Standing on convictions as principles for living for the sake of following them is just a means of self-based work-based living and pride. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.
